40 Acres and A Mule

Reparations to be paid to African Americans in the United States is on the rise once again in places such as California and New York. A Duke University professor recently proposed $14 trillion in reparations for the descendants of American slavery (roughly $350,000 per recipient). Personally, I think the federal government can do what ever they want as long as it comes out of their own pockets but ya see, they don't have pockets they pull it out of our pockets and to add trillions more to the 30 trillion dollars of debt we have now is insanity.

How about reparations for Chinese Americans, they were also slaves sold by their parents in China to slave owners. They were called Collies. They’ll tell they were voluntary laborers building the railroads in the west, but they had no freedom nor human rights. The Chinese from Southern China had been actual slaves in the US and the West for centuries, they were sold and resold at the slave markets, but their prices were much lower than contemporary black salves; even after the Africans were freed, the Chinese continued to be slaved in the US and the West until the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed in 1882, yet we hear nothing about reparations for them.

Native American Indians living in the American Southwest were enslaved and purchased by European colonists throughout the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. In the southern states, they incorporated them into chattel slavery systems, where they intermixed with slaves of African descent. They were used as labor on plantations or as servants to wealthy colonist families. This whole country was theirs until our push west forced what was left of the ones we didn’t slaughter, onto small plots of land and forced them to live on government rationing. If anyone needs reparations, it's certainly these people.

Here’s something to think about. Three hundred and sixty thousand union soldiers lost their lives in the Civil War defending the freedom of the African America slaves. How about tracing those families and giving them a little cash.

But where does it end. The whole idea of paying people reparations is ludicrous. The idea of holding the American taxpayer responsible for the sins of our forefathers is ludicrous. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:11," Also, make it your ambition to live quietly, to mind your own business and to earn your living by your own efforts".

And that’s how you get your 40 acres and a mule.
